Beef with Grated Coconut (Dendeng ragi)

Spiced Braised Beef (Bumbu rudjak)

1 1/2 pound stew meat
1 tbs. vegetable oil
1 cup coconut milk
2 hot red peppers sliced diagonally (or 1 tsp ground chili pepper)
1 tsp. shrimp paste
1 tbs. tamarind juice or lemon juice
1 large onion sliced
2 cloves garlic chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Wash the meat and drain. Brown onion and garlic in oil, then add all other ingredients and beef. Simmer 20-30 minutes, or until beef is tender.
